Thanks~

Today was my last day of school. Yay, I'm now a senior!! But as I was cleaning out all of my binders and folders I found a reflection I gave to my teacher. We were challenged to write the things we were most thankful for. I thought as this change took place in my life I would share and express my thanks.

"I cried because I had no shoes, then I met a man who had no feet" ~Mahatma Gandhi

I am thankful that God gave the world a morning with a sun that never fails to rise. I am thankful that God gave the world a night with a sunset that paints the horizon. I am thankful that God gave me sight, so I could experience the beauty of both.

I am thankful for the trees that hold my hammock and for the birds that sing me awake. I am thankful for the grass that gives me stuffy noses and the pollen that sticks to everything. I am thankful that the crickets that sing, are alive because without them summer nights would be too quiet.

I am thankful for the beauty that is engraved into every face I meet and the wisdom etched into their brain. I am thankful for my ability to walk, run, talk, and listen.

I am thankful for my body because it is clean, clothed, well-fed, strong, and beautiful. I am thankful that the only thing I'm addicted to is coffee. I am thankful that I have access to clean and portable water. I am thankful for my feet that carry me on crazy adventures in nature.

I am thankful for my family who help nourish and provide for me. I am thankful for my sister, brother, cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents who tell me stories and encourage my growth. I am thankful for a roof over my head and my comfortable bed. I am thankful for my cat who cuddles and my puppy who loves to play.

I am thankful for people who tell it like it is. I am thankful for my friendships that have been re-kindled when darkness seemed like it had won. I am thankful for the lessons that have been taught to me by teachers, parents, friends, siblings, mentors, and even complete strangers.

I am thankful that I can look through a lens and create stories and art. With my photography I make people feel beautiful and confident and that is an amazing power to hold. I am thankful for my creativity and ability to think out of the box.

I am thankful for my passion, drive, awareness, silliness, responsibility, leadership, kindness, and spontaneity. I am thankful that I can laugh at my mistakes, stop and smell the roses, and that my life is full of joy and pain.

I am thankful for my Creator and Maker and all of the beautiful and gracious things he created perfectly in His image.

I am thankful that I can swing my feet around and off the bed because today I'm not dead. I am grateful and thankful that I am alive and have a God and people who love me for me.
